In a New Jersey homicide case, Prosecutors want to call a Defendant's attorney to show that the woman began poisoning her husband after a very contentious mediation session in their divorce case, four days before he went to the hospital and 16 days before he died.  The judge will rule Tuesday whether state-imposed confidentiality laws can be waived to permit Green to testify about the mediation session.

10 years after Oklahoma, who has the highest divorce rates in the country, passed the Oklahoma Marriage Initiative.  Unfortunately, the legislation did little, if nothing.  Now, "Gov. Mary Fallin signed a bill aimed at promoting marriage and fighting poverty. House Bill 1908 calls for the Department of Human Services to create a statewide public service campaign promoting marriage as a tool to fight poverty and decrease the likelihood of child poverty."

While it is good news that the Oklahoma government is recognizing the correlation between poverty and divorce rates, it may prove to be unfortunate that they see marriage as solving poverty, rather than solving poverty as decreasing divorce rates.
